Men and women often join for the ability to take care of oneself in any potentially dangerous or uncomfortable situation, even though most of our adults seldom, if ever, get into a fighting situation. They often find themselves, however, in an uncomfortable situation, such as walking to their car late at night, or escorting their spouse or friend in a less than secure neighborhood. It’s at times like this that martial arts training greatly enhances your self-confidence because of the ability to really take care of yourself, or someone you care for, when the time arises.
These fitness based martial arts for adults classes will help you reach your stated goals. Running and mountain biking are great activities but if that’s all you do for fitness you may end up limiting your flexibility. Because these activities are basically “linear” in nature they don’t challenge you to develop in all the areas of fitness. That is why most professional athletes cross train outside of their chosen sport. There is nothing like martial arts training to develop you to your maximum potential both physically and mentally.
We will train you to be a well rounded martial artist here at ATA Tewksbury. Incorporated into our adult program is Krav Maga, Jujitsu, Combat Stick Fighting, Gun, Knife and Stick defense as well as Joint Lock and Pressure Point Control Tactics.
Our students are trained to the best of their ability. Some students come to us in shape, while others have come to us 100 pounds overweight. Most come to us with limited flexibility. Adults start at any age, we have had some adults who started as late as age 65, and have still earned their black belts. As a student, you are looked upon as an individual, never compared to anyone else. Our instructors will be there every step of the way. All that is expected of you is a willingness to try.
Krav Maga Seminars and Courses and Group/Corporate team building events
Krav Maga is the official hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces. It's also the preferred system for U.S. Military and law enforcement personnel. Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art. No kata. No rituals.
Based on simple principles and instinctive movements, this reality-based system is designed to teach real self defense in the shortest possible time. Learn to defend against common chokes, grabs, and bear hugs, as well as weapons such as guns, knives, and sticks (gun, knife and stick defense covered at a later seminar). Just as important, we teach people to function during the stress and shock of a sudden, violent encounter. Tested on the battlefield and in the streets, Krav Maga's practical approach to self defense will make you safer and more secure.
We offer intense, reality based courses throughout the year for the totally inexperienced person to expert martial artist interested in a less traditional setting. We offer two 8 week seminars (spring and fall) as well as other smaller courses throughout the year.
Our Group/Corporate Krav Maga class or seminar is designed to promote team building, camaraderie, fitness and confidence in one’s own ability to protect themselves or a loved one. This is an overall experience any group will remember for years to come and they will retain the lessons about themselves and their colleagues while at work.

Our team building events include full use of our Martial Art center located in Tewksbury Massachusetts and a trained staff to give your team the best experience possible. Your team will be involved in a program designed to teach them to have confidence in their physical ability in a fun and safe environment. They'll train together with partners and in groups to learn proper technique involved in defending themselves in the event of an attack. As they are pushed outside their comfort zones they are asked to encourage each other to overcome obstacles by utilizing the combined strength and power of the Team. Teams can be more effective than individuals in training or work environments and we stress the importance of trusting and supporting each other.
